Quality Tribal Items, Sculptures and Fine Collectables

About Me

My name is Marinette Peñas-Collier. I have loved collecting things all my life. Both my husband and me have trouble not buying everything we see that we like. We are not specialists - we might have more room if we were. We both lovely many different types of items. My relationship with eBay started with my desire for jewelry. I had always had a fondness for cameos and I found a wonderful selection and very good buys. After several purchases I was hooked on eBay.

I received a wonderful job offer so I quit my current job at the bank to go to work for another company. After a week at the new job I was told the owners wife was not real happy with me and that I no longer had a job.

My husband suggested that I try to sell on eBay instead of just buying. I love to buy and sell and have been doing it for all my life. I started buying to sell and absolutely love it. My husband absolutely loves it. I am too busy buying items for resale that I do not have time to spend the household funds!

My one rule is never to buy anything for resale that I do not like. If I didn't like a particular piece, sure enough that would be the one I could never sell.

I had always wanted to have a shop. We were beginning to have so many items that we could not list them all. Realistically some things have to be seen in order for someone to buy them. I looked for a while for a good location. I am now selling in two different locations. Click here for directions and pictures.

This website grew from a desire to show more items that are currently off the auction rotation. Also some of the tribal items are not allowed to be auctioned on eBay. It is a labor of love and more hard work than one can imagine.

Business was getting better so in September 2000 we incorporated and formed Imports by Marinette's Inc.

On a personal note, I was born in the Philippines. I have four wonderful sons who live in the United States. One is an automobile mechanic for CarMax. Another is a rad tech. My third installs Cable TV. My youngest has just graduated from college and is now working as an Assistant Manager at QT. I have seven grandchildren. I live in the Atlanta Area and love this city!

How We Work

My husband helps me in this business. I do all the e-mail correspondence. I prepare the packages for shipping and take them to the Post Office.

I prepare the bank deposits and take them to the bank. I do all of the purchasing of items. I visit garage sales, wholesalers, close outs and antique stores in order to purchase items of interest. I also do several out of the country buying trips a year. I do all the scanning and the photographs. I crop the photos and assign pricing to the item. One of the hardest things is keeping track of where the items are. I have so many items waiting to go on auction, just coming off auction and on auction that sometimes I cannot find them. I get into a panic. My husband will calm me down and find the piece I am looking for.

My husband does the actual listings. He seems to be pretty good at writing the copy! He also designed the website as well as maintaining it.
