Philippine Tribal Knife in Carved Wood Sheath
Lovely Tribal knife from the Philippines which when it is in its sheath it looks like a long animal with lots of teeth and even a tongue
This is a very interesting knife I picked up on my last trip to the Philippines. The total length of this utility knife in the carved case is13.50 inches. The knife itself measures 10 inches long with a blade 5.75 inches. There is some surface rust on the knife which can be seen in the images. The case is bound with two sets of wicker bindings. It has split at one point along the grain of the wood; these wicker bindings probably were put on to keep the sheath together if or when it split. The knife fits in the sheath only one way and quite firmly. Here are some more images:
